The DotOrg team in collaboration with the Adore India NGO had conducted a Web Awareness as well as a training camp for the students of classes 3,4 and 5 in KMCP School, Park Circus, Kolkata. The event was scheduled to start on 10:00 am and started on time. About 40 students per class were present for the campaign.
The children were first made to introduce themselves followed by the introduction of the instructors Subham Das, Kalpita Wadher and Sukrit Sarkar . After this the children were taught about Google, YouTube, and E-mails. In this technologically dominated world, the speakers found it glad they could educate and thus be of help to the children.
The team started out with demonstrations as to how Google can help find out answers to many of their questions and also provide them with ingenuous real world solutions to the current problems they face. This in turn was followed by one of our instructor demonstrating how YouTube works showing videos to the children.
Then MS-Paint lecture was given to the children and they tried their hands at what was a innovative experience for them.
Finally, a lecture was given to the students on the computer peripherals such as the mouse, keyboard, desktop, CPU among others. The many parts of the computer and it’s peripherals were explained clearly and meticulously. The children were very happy to have gained knowledge about the web and pledged to use the internet and it’s resources properly. The day ended with the instructors and the students having a photo session.
